SAGE SCIENCE SIGNS CO-MARKETING AGREEMENT WITH ILLUMINA TO AUTOMATE DNA SIZING STEPS IN NEXT-GEN SEQUENCING SAMPLE PREPARATION

Beverly, MA—October 21, 2010—Sage Science, Inc. (a privately-held, MA-based company) today announced that it has signed a co-marketing agreement with Illumina, Inc. (NASDAQ:ILMN). Illumina and Sage have agreed to co-market the Pippin Prep system in an effort to provide automated gel technology for library size selection to Illumina sequencing customers.

The Pippin Prep automates size selection of DNA for next-gen sequencing library preparation, providing a labor-saving alternative to manual gel extraction and purification. Sage Science customers have found that sequencing libraries generated using the Pippin Prep have greater sequence diversity and less low molecular weight contamination than those produced by traditional gel methods, generating higher quality sequencing data, and more data per run.

After signing the co-marketing agreement, Sage CEO Gary Magnant stated, “We are pleased to be working with one of the pioneers of next-gen sequencing and we are excited about sharing the results of our efforts with the rest of the NGS community.”
