BEVERLY, Mass., August 10, 2010 — Sage Science, Inc. announced today the release of the Pippin Prep DNA size selection system to the United States market. This device automates the collection of DNA fragments for next generation sequencing library preparations, and replaces manual gel purification techniques that typically require hours of effort. The Pippin Prep uses a proprietary electrophoretic approach that extracts narrow size distributions from sheared genomic DNA, provides high product recovery, and requires only 1-2 minutes of labor per sample.
Sage Science’s CEO, Gary Paul Magnant, recently commented on their instrument launch. “We are pleased to be selling and shipping instruments. Results from our early access program have been very favorable, and several major genome centers are testing the Pippin Prep in their sample pipelines. We believe that the cost savings and high sample quality enabled by the Pippin Prep could make this new class of instrument a must-have tool.”
