ATAC-Seq (Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin)

ATAC-Seq is a method for sequencing areas of open chromatin. This provides valuable information about the nucleosome landscape of a genome and transcription factor binding sites. This is often used in conjunction with ChIP-seq which is used to interrogate closed chormatin DNA binding sites for transcription factors and other proteins. This method is valuable for cancer research and is also used for structural genomic and evolutionary studies.
